Thoughts About Man From The Stars

man-from-the-stars-posterOla! It’s been two months since my last post. Well, work has been really demanding lately and I haven’t had a lot of time to stop and put my thoughts into writing. But today, I won’t let this opportunity pass to write my thoughts about the Korean drama You Who Came From The Stars, Man from the Stars, My Love from Another Star or whatever the English title is.

This drama top bills Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun. It has a pretty interesting plot which is different from the past dramas that I have watched.

Kim Soo Hyun plays Do Min Joon who is a 400 year old alien who was stuck on earth because he got entangled with something during his time on earth and was left behind when their spaceship left. He then meets Cheon Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun) who turns his quiet, reserved life upside down.

To be honest, I got interested about this drama because of Jun Ji Hyun. When I first read about the news, I anticipated her first drama after 14 years.

So why did I get hooked?

  1. Jun Ji Hyun was perfect for the Cheon Song Yi role. She is hilariously funny. She nailed every funny scenes she had. I just love how she gave life to Cheon Song Yi. Often cranky and too proud outside but sad inside. Oh, I just love her drunk scene trying to open Do Min Joon’s apartment door and the pleading scene when she got rejected by Do Min Joon. Oh, didn’t I just said I love her? hahaha!
  2. I think Kim Soo Hyun is also perfect for the cold Do Min Joon character. I haven’t watched any of his dramas yet. So I was impressed how good he can cry for a man. I wonder where he gets all those emotions at a young age.
  3. The chemistry of the leads are undeniable. Need I say more? hahaha!
  4. The main male antagonist was really good portraying a psychopath. He has this look in his eyes that will make you scared.
  5. I think the CGI is good for a television drama. I just love how they put a lot of attention to this and how they are executed.
  6. The characters were established well and were given their back stories as to why they behave as such. I like the interview part of Do Min Joon and the epilogues at the last few minutes of the episode.

Though the story is not perfect, I still enjoyed the entire drama a lot. I would recommend it to my fellow Korean drama fanatics.

So am I having a post drama syndrome? I would say a little but not as much as I had after watching Innocent Man. But definitely, I will miss the funny Cheon Song Yi and handsome Do Min Joon. 🙂

Now, off to my next drama. 😀
